Rose on Vibes & Jazz Co.
Rose on Vibes & Jazz Co. is comprised of musicians from the Nashville Jazz Workshop. Featuring Linda "Rose" on vibraphone, gyil (African xylophone) and hand percussion.
The Core "Company"
Linda "Rose", vibraphone, gyil, and hand percussion: Lawyer by day, jazz musician by night. She was introduced to jazz at age 12 -- with Lionel Hampton's recording Flying Home. The impact of that album stuck throughout the years. She picked up her first mallets and began to seriously study vibraphone in 2001. Rose on Vibes was born. She attributes her modest success with the instrument to her type "A" personality. Rose also has traveled to Ghana, Africa several times where she has studied the gyil and African percussion.
Kevin Sanders, piano: Kevin Sanders is a middle Tennessee native and a computer techie in his coveted "spare time." But just listen to him play and you'll swear he was born playing keyboard in the streets of New York City. Whether it's swing jazz, bebop, blues, Latin, R&B dance, or even classical music, Kevin's got it under his belt. In addition to his playing skills, he's an accomplished composer and arranger, credited with a number of solo CDs, jazz and pop CDs, and numerous demos. Understandably, Kevin's a player in high demand, and you can catch him playing around town with various bands. But when it comes to Rose on Vibes & Jazz Co., Kevin's a regular.
Max McKeller, bass: Max McKeller is a music student at Middle Tennessee State University. He loves playing jazz, funk, Latin, and Brazilian music. Max seems to be everybody's favorite bass player, so you can often catch him playing around town or on the MTSU campus with a number of bands and ensembles. Don't let his young age fool you. This cat is awesome!
Ralph Henley, drums: Ralph Henley is a drummer, producer, studio engineer, publisher and undoubtedly a renaissance man. He majored in music at Cal State Northridge and has studied with Joe Porcoro and Billy Moore. In Nashville, where he has lived for 28 years, he is frequently seen swinging with local jazz vocalists and various ensembles. His goal in life is to be true to the groove.
Rod Noftsger, trumpet: Rod attended Indiana Wesleyan University where he studied with renowned trumpet performer, Jerry Franks. He has worked in different aspects of the music industry including performing, recording, music publishing, music copyright, and music preparation. Rod has performed with Chet Atkins, Mark O'Conner, Ricky Godfrey, and drummer Charlie Adams, just to name a few, and is a featured as a soloist with Nashville big bands The Usual Suspects and The Moonlighters. In addition to some hot trumpet, Rod plays kickin' flugelhorn.
