Below please find a sampling of our sound:

Dreamland (live) This is a variation on a composition by the Ghanaian musician Kofi Ameyaw. We're playing the melody our way -- as a jazz tune.  Here's an excerpt.  Sorry for the background chatter.
Octave Dance This is an original, solo composition on the gyil (African xylophone).
Octave Dance Funk Octave Dance (above) put to a funk groove.
Freddie Freeloader A Miles Davis blues tune from the album Kind of Blue
Willlow Weep For Me Composed by Ann Ronnell. Some say Ira Gershwin composed this tune for her. But the feel and the lyrics tell us this tune is definitely written by a woman!  Sorry, no lyrics on this clip though.
Moonglow Moonglow was made popular by the Benny Goodman band. Goodman shook the entertainment world when he took the bold step of integrating his band with Lionel Hampton on vibraphone and Teddy Wilson on piano.  "I never thought it was brave . . . . We just did it . . . . That was the way it was supposed to be.  How can you play if you're gonna worry about a guy's color. It's tough enough just to play." ~~ Benny Goodman
Mercy,Mercy, Mercy (live) Written by Joe Zawinul of Weather Report, this tune was recorded by Cannonball Adderley who said life is full of adversity.  And when you face adversity, you just have to ask for Mercy, Mercy, Mercy.
Bernie's Tune This clip features our pianist and bass player.
Watermelon Man This is the Poncho Sanchez/Mongo Santamaria approach to this jazz tune.
I Was Made To Love Her (live) A Stevie Wonder hit put to jazz. Catch our groove, especially on piano.
Softly As In A Morning Sunrise This tune is almost always played fast and hip, not at all like a sunrise. The lyrics were written by the well-known composer Oscar Hammerstein.

Autumn Leaves Autumn Leaves was written in 1945, originally as a French tune entitled Les Feuilles Mortes (Dead Leaves).  The English translation became Autumn Leaves and the lyrics were written by none other than the famed American songwriter Johnny Mercer.
Bags' Groove Bag's Groove is a basic 12-bar blues by Milt Jackson.  Bags was Milt Jackson's nickname.  They say it was because of the heavy bags under his eyes, presumably from leading the hard life of a jazz musician.
Blue Bossa (live) This tune was part of the Brazilian revolution into American jazz.  Bossa tunes were created as an alternative to Brazilian samba, which usually has a deep, penetrating rhythm. Bossa, on the other hand, is a gentler, more "suave" type of music.
Now's the Time Now's the Time is a Charlie Parker 12-bar blues composition. Parker -- the king of bebop -- was also known as Bird.  He acquired this nickname because of his love of fried chicken.
Summer Samba Summer Samba was written by brothers Marcus and Paul Sergio of Rio de Janeiro, but it was made popular by the famed Brazilian singer-songwriter-guitarist Carlos Jobim and Brazilian vocalist Astrid Gilberto. This tune has been recorded under two names -- Summer Samba and So Nice. Either way, Summer Samba is So Nice to listen to . . . it'll make you wanna bossa.
